We are producing a new and exciting festival in Santa Cruz. This festival will seek to highlight the inhumanity of the car camping ban in Santa Cruz. That ban makes being homeless illegal for many.
(Santa Cruz Municipal Code § 6.36.010 (a))

COMEDY STAGE

Join us at the people pedal powered comedy stage hosted by comedian extrodinaire Lynn Ruth Miller. Line up to be announced, stay tuned .

KIDS ZONE

Kids zone will be super fun, but when the kids time runs out in the bounce house, they get an eviction notice to leave. (Also, kids, take your eviction notice to the town square for a stamp, after you get through the runaround and get all your stamps on your eviction notice, there will be a treat at the end., with each stamp location fun and educational) Kids zone features an array of inflatibles, face painters, entertainers, musicians, and it also features the a huge titanic slide.

SOAP BOX STAGE

This is an open mike on a Pignose Amp in a corner under a tree.  Like the days of old, stand on your soap box and say whatever.  Open mike, enter the area at your own risk, talk, listen, cringe, run (fire), cheer, or whatever, but with respect and openness.

ART AREA - RUN FOR YOUR LIFE

Art area (run for your life) with artist Ken Keegan stirring up the herd.

Submissions for installations are being accepted now. Possible cash prize for the whateverist.

CAR CAMPING GALLERY - gallery is inside circle of camping cars

This is a homeless awareness, outreach, compassion, understanding, and acceptance project.

Car Camping Gallery - a circle of cars, enter inside the circle and learn about the cars and occupants that live inside, and art also inside the cars.

There will be a circle of cars parked at the festival in Santa Cruz. You enter inside the circle (a small gap of the cars) to enter into the show.

The art will be on display inside cars that people have lived in. Some might currently be slept in illegally by night. The car owners / art livers will be there showing the guests how they live. There may also be some art displayed inside vehicles that will include Police arresting homeless people. It will be up to particular car owners and the particular visitors inside of the car circle as to how much of the interior of the vehicles (and the occupant's lifestyle) is viewed. All those involved inside of the circle become part of the show in some ways.

The larger festival grounds, outside the car circle will include off the grid / car camping vendors and related, and lots of funky entertainment and activities. We will also have the bizarre shuttle.

LIVE MUSIC - SHOCKED AND EXCITED

Live Music (third stage may be added)

Stay tuned for line up, you will be shocked and excited.

PANEL DISCUSSIONS - no chairs or tables

Panel Discussion(s) including sit down circles in the main tent / festival town square.

We will forego the table and chairs and talk together in a circle for a deeper connection and mutual attention and respect for all.

VENDING AREA

Calling all freaks and vendors, space still available.

THE LABORATORY - GREEN LIVING DEMONSTRATION AREA

Ideas will fly.

SATURDAY MARKET - DAY IN THE PARK

In addition, the Santa Cruz Saturday Market is also going on right next to us.  Since 2004, the Saturday Market is known for their delicious hot food, shops, music, a dance bazar, Farmer's Market, and a kids creative play zone and much much more.  Please visit their website - TheSantaCruzSaturdayMarket.Org.  The Saturday Market is not associated with the Car Camping Festival but we love them and the CarCampingFestival will be wonderful and complementary to the Saturday Market.
